The Pink & Blue Project

Posted: November 27th, 2009 | Author: Andi | Filed under: Design | Tags: , , | No Comments »

This project explores the trends in cultural preferences and the differences in the tastes of children (and their parents) from diverse cultures, ethnic groups as well as gender socialization and identity. The work also raises other issues, such as the relationship between gender and consumerism, urbanization, the globalization of consumerism and the new capitalism.

Dangerous Electronics Boys
I wish I had this when i was a boy. Really clever packaging. Back in the old days we just had rocks to play, but we had no time to play anyways as we had to work the fields day and night…

The Big Bang Theory does not only excite with its genius humor, but also because of the great t-shirts Sheldon, Leonard, Rajesh and Howard are usually wearing.
For that reason someone put together a webpage featuring most of the t-shirts the main protagonists of TBBT were wearing in the show. There are also links to shops were you can purchase them.

Inspired by this work I would like to share some more street art I encountered during my stay in the States this year. The first piece (my favorite), I tripped over late night in a far-off alley somewhere in New Orleans’ French Quarter. The other pieces  can be watched in New York City.

Aesthetics, Time & The Beauty

Polaroid Fade to Black
It has been almost a year now, that good old Polaroid is back in business. Actually it’s not the good old Polaroid anymore, as the new Polaroid company seems to be much more design driven than it was before.
Just recently they released a new film called “Fade to Black”, which has the incredible feature of fading to full beauty within twelve hours and then fading to black in another twelve hours. What would I do with a polaroid that is black after twelve hours you might ask. The most incredible feature is, that you can stop the development of the photograph whenever you like just by tearing of the layer covering the picture.
Here is a timelapse video showing you the progression of a photograph.

There is also PDF and the official Blog with additional example pictures and more information.
