1967, the early days of the career of one the most influential artists in pop history, David Bowie. Being a cool guy, he sits down and types an immediate respond to his first American fan letter. So take a look and see what Mr. Bowie thinks:

I don’t think he still procceds this way nowadays…

Here is some background info from the letter’s author Sandra Dodd.

El-P — How To Serve Men

Posted: December 10th, 2009 | Author: Habi | Filed under: Music | Tags: , , | 1 Comment »

Nice video of El-P’s latest track “How To Serve Man”, released on the label’s sampler DefJux Presents… IV. Good news, he is currently working on his third studio album, tentatively titled Cancer for Cure. To keep  posted check out the blog of Definitve Jux’s mastermind!

That’s not all: Adult Swim just released another one of their free mix albums, titled ATL RMX.

On ATL RMX, various abstract beat-music types like Hudson Mohawke, SALEM, and Dam-Funk (as well as wild cards like HEALTH and Memory Tapes) remix tracks from Atlanta rappers like Young Dro, OJ DaJuiceman, and Playboy Tre. So if you’ve ever wanted to hear Gucci Mane’s playfully blunted drug talk mixed with Flying Lotus’s playfully blunted squiggles, now’s your chance. Also of note: Prefuse 73 chops up Shawty Lo’s horn-funk banger “Dey Know”, and Young Jeezy gets the El-P treatment. Worlds collide!

This fine piece of music reminds me of the legendary Definitve Swim sampler, also available for free! And if you still don’t have enough of progressive, strange noises, check out Definitve Jux’s vimeo channel to find this music visualized, which makes it even more awesome!

They all went to heaven at the age of 27

I like to listen to The Doors a lot, so I was pretty amazed when I noticed this nice shirt collection themed “They all went to heaven at the age of 27″. The Scandinavians of Whipping Floyd have their own, but in my opinion very fresh style!

Here are the featured artists:

The Forever 27 Club consists of prominent musicians who all passed away at the age of 27 years. Too early, if you look at how inspiring their music is still today. Timeless classics. To put these people a monument Whipping Floyd created these shirts.

My favorite is Jim Morrison’s:

Mr. Mojo Risin is an anagram of his name that he uses in the song LA Woman. He spent his last night on earth in the Paris nightclub Rock’n’Roll Circus. White horses denote heroin, the reason Jim died most likely.
